Police inspect the damage on Monash Freeway.
A collision involving an unmarked police car has left one man seriously injured and slowed traffic to crawl on the Monash Freeway.

Investigators believe a maroon sedan crashed into the rear of an unmarked police car near Springvale Road at about 5.40am Saturday.
The driver of the sedan, a Hampton Park man aged in his 20s, has been taken to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries.
His passenger, a 26-year-old female from Ringwood, was also injured, while the male police member was unharmed
A VicRoads spokesman said the Monash Freeway was closed to outbound traffic from Ferntree Gully Road to Springvale Road while police investigated the crash. He said traffic was banked up to Blackburn Road. The freeway has since reopened.
Police say the unmarked highway patrol car had intercepted a car for a traffic offence and was parked on the side of the freeway with its emergency lights on at the time of the crash
